Drill rental in Espoo runs without a shop counter, a queue or a deposit. This one is a cordless combi drill: it drills wood and metal, hammers into brick and lightweight concrete, and drives screws at 20 torque settings. Two batteries and a charger come in the case. Pick it up from a smart locker at Iso Omena from 4,49 €.

The impact setting handles brick, stone and lightweight concrete; some shops call this a hammer drill or a percussion drill. For structural or reinforced concrete, and for anchor holes above about 10 mm, a rotary hammer is the right tool and we rent one of those too.

No staff, no counter, no delivery slot to wait in. Finish at eleven at night and you return it at eleven at night.

Rent or buy? This drill costs about 79 € new as a bare tool, and the two batteries and charger add roughly 100 € on top: call it 180 € for the setup that comes in this case. A full day here is 11,99 €. Most households drill something twice a year, a shelf in spring and a curtain rail when the flat changes. At that rate the machine spends a decade in a cupboard flattening its own batteries. If you are drilling every month, buy one. Most people never get there.

Pick-up and opening hours: The Tooly locker is on floor −1 of the Iso Omena shopping centre, Piispansilta 11, Espoo, near the Musti ja Mirri entrance. The closest parking is P2B next to the ABC lataus. It is open every day from 6 am to midnight, so you can collect before work or after the shops close. Matinkylä metro station is in the same building, which puts the locker within easy reach from Helsinki and Vantaa without a car.
