What you can do with it

Which bit for which material: Twist bits, the gold-coloured ones, are titanium-nitride coated HSS and are for metal. They will do wood at a pinch. The wood bits cut cleanly in timber and should not be used on anything harder. Masonry bits have a blunt-looking tungsten carbide tip and need the drill's impact setting switched on. They cut by pounding rather than slicing, so leaning on them does not help.
And the part that saves the second trip. The plugs are in the case with the bits, so you are not standing in an aisle guessing. Match the bit to the plug rather than to the screw, drill a little deeper than the plug is long so the dust has somewhere to go, and the plug goes in flush with a light tap.
How drill bit set rental works
- Pick your slot online. Six hours suits a shelf installation.
- A PIN arrives by email. Open the locker at Iso Omena and take out the case.
- Fit the bit in the chuck by hand. The drill has a 13 mm keyless chuck, so everything here fits. Screwdriver bits drop into the magnetic holder first.
- Put every piece back in its moulded slot and return the case to the same locker. Used plugs you can keep. They are consumable.

What is not included: Screws. The plugs are here and the bits are here, but you bring the screws that suit what you are hanging.
SDS-plus bits and chisels. If you are renting the rotary hammer rather than the drill, this set will not fit it and the SDS+ set is the one you want.
And a note in your favour: the cordless drill already comes with a 15-piece screwdriver bit set, so if you are only driving screws, you do not need this at all. This set is for making holes.
Rent or buy? At 2,99 € a day this hardly counts as a decision, so here is the honest version. This set is 24,99 € new, so around eight days of renting pays for one. If you drill regularly, buy it. What renting buys you is a sharp set and a full box for a one-off job. The set in your kitchen drawer has one blunt 6 mm masonry bit that has been through four walls, no plugs left because you used them in 2022, and eleven sizes still in their wrapper. Ours gets checked between rentals and the plugs get topped up.

- Do I need this if I am renting the drill? If you are making holes, yes. The drill comes with screwdriver bits but no drill bits and no wall plugs, so without this set you can drive screws and nothing else.
- Do I get the wall plugs, or just the bits? Both. Wall plugs sized to match the masonry bits are in the case. Screws are not included, so bring those.
- What sizes are in it? Masonry bits from 4 to 10 mm, wood bits 4 to 10 mm, plus spade bits at 13, 16 and 19 mm, and metal bits from 1,5 to 6,5 mm.
- Will it fit the rotary hammer? No. That machine uses an SDS-plus chuck, which takes a different shank entirely. Rent the SDS+ drill and chisel set for it instead.
- Can I drill into a concrete wall with it? Into brick and lightweight concrete, yes, with a masonry bit and the drill's impact setting on. Structural or reinforced concrete needs the rotary hammer and SDS+ bits.
Pick-up and opening hours: The set lives in the Tooly locker on floor -1 of the Iso Omena shopping centre, Piispansilta 11, Espoo, near the Musti ja Mirri entrance. It is open every day 6-24, so you can pick it up with the drill on the way home and return both together.
